How to Choose Visible Categories

Last updated March 6, 2026

Visible categories control the product filters shown on your Oshi Network storefront. When customers view your brand in the Shop by Store directory, they can use these categories to narrow down your product catalog and find what they're looking for.

Categories are pulled automatically from your product data — either from product types or collections, depending on your e-commerce platform.

Steps

Step 1: Open Visible Categories

  1. From your Oshi dashboard, click Oshi Network in the left sidebar
  2. Select Storefront
  3. Scroll down to the Visible Categories section

Step 2: Select Categories

The panel shows two columns:

  • Selected categories on the left — these are currently visible on your storefront
  • Available categories on the right — these are available to add

To manage your categories:

  • Click a category from the available list to add it to your selected categories
  • Click the X on a selected category to remove it
  • Use Select All or Deselect All for quick bulk actions

Step 3: Reorder Categories

The order of your selected categories determines the order customers see them in. To reorder:

  • Use the up and down arrow buttons next to each selected category
  • Categories at the top of the list appear first in the storefront filter

Step 4: Save Changes

Click Save Changes to apply your selections. The preview panel on the right updates to show your category filters in the Shop by Store view.

How Categories Are Generated

Where your categories come from depends on your setup:

  • Shopify: Uses the product type field from your Shopify products
  • WooCommerce: Uses product categories from your WooCommerce catalog
  • Custom products: Uses the category you assign when adding a product manually (e.g., "Coffee", "Apparel"). See How to Add Custom Products

If you don't see the categories you expect, check that your products have product types or categories assigned. For synced products, verify this in your e-commerce platform and sync again. For custom products, edit the product and add or update the category field.

Tip: If you don't select any categories, the category filter will be hidden entirely on your storefront. Customers can still browse your products — they just won't have category filters available.
